let’s talk oatmeal
Goooood Morning my loves.
♥ ♥ ♥
I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to their week. One great thing about Wednesday’s, we’re half way through!
Another great thing about Wednesday’s?
What I Ate Wednesday of course. So make sure you head over and say thank you to the lovely Jenn for hosting this shin dig and check out everyone’s beautiful eats.

I actually have participated in awhile, well because my meals have been so repetitive and quite honestly, boring.
But one rut has been broken. And something delicious has come back to me.
Oatmeal has been brought back into my life.
If any of you remember, awhile back I went into a huge oatmeal rut. I mean it was all I ate.

♥ ♥ ♥
Then, I don’t know what happened. But I just stopped.
Really what probably happened was I got into a new rut.
But one morning. I was craving oatmeal. And finally broke the streak.
And I am very happy to report oatmeal has made a huge come back into my life. And I couldn’t be happier!

There had been so many recipes I had been wanting to try that I kind of combined them all.
In the mix:
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup TVP
- drizzle of maple syrup
- splash of pure vanilla extract
- sprinkle of cinnamon (ok a lot of sprinkles)
(yes drizzle, splash, and sprinkle are legit measurements)
- 1/2 banana whipped in
- 1/2 scoop Fitmixer chocolate added at end of cooking
Topped with:
- 1/2 frozen banana
- peanut flour drizzle
- granola sprinkle
- more cinnamon sprinkle love

Creamy and delicious.
♥ ♥ ♥
And it didn’t end there.
I made another pretty epic bowl.
♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥
I loved the thickness and texture the TVP gave to the oatmeal, that I had to do it again.
I had also seen this wonderful idea of protein fluff.
Attempted.
Failed.
But I will not give up. It was still tasty, just not “fluffy” if you will.
It was nothing a little melted peanut butter couldn’t fix.

♥ ♥ ♥
Maybe no fluff factor, but still a tasty bowl of oatmeal.
♥ ♥ ♥
I was so excited about having oatmeal back in my life that I was raving to Matt about how good my bowls were.
I must have talked a bit too much, because he requested a bowl as well.
But I was happy to oblige.
♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥
He was even willing to try it with TVP, I was proud of him.
He likes his oatmeal more plain, so in his mix was just a little vanilla and maple extract, topped with Love Grown Blueberry Acai granola.
Oh, this made it into his bowl too. (it was national peanut butter day and all)

♥ ♥ ♥
And honestly, oats with out peanut butter? Blasphemy.
So I am happy to report that oatmeal has been put back into the mix.
What I am really excited for?
I have an empty jar of chocolate sunflower seed butter.
OIAJ baby, the best way to have oats!
♥ ♥ ♥
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.

What do you put in your oatmeal?

I bought a thing of TVP about a month ago, and have yet to use it. Can’t wait to try this out. I do have a question though, is this recipe for overnight oats, or for stovetop??
i made mine on the stove top, i’m sure this could easily be made into an overnight version, just might need more liquid.
I have been eating oatmeal for both breakfast AND afternoon snack for at least the past month or so. It just seems to be the best, most filling (and fueling) way for me to get through teaching all morning, as well as energizing (and sustaining) post-work, pre-workout. I try to keep things SOMEWHAT exciting, but I do love the addition of TVP for texture and bulk. [Yes, I am a volume eater...] Laura was a genius to come up with that one. [Also, I love oat bran in there for creaminess.]
i am a total volume eater too. however, i can make my oats “look” pretty voluminous on it’s own, but i love the added protein of the tvp as well! protein protein protein!!
I got really excited when I saw the title of this post. I LOVE talking oatmeal!! I have been in an oatmeal rut for about 2 years and I won’t be quitting anytime soon! My favourites are apple pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate coconut, peanut butter banana and carrot cake. Mmm…
the possibilities are endless are they not?
Your oatmeal looks ridiculously good! I love nut butter:)
Holy oatmeal bowls! They all look delicious! I love Love Grown Oats but don’t think I’ve had the blueberry acai granola. Yum!
Oh my, you might just have seriously worsened a long term obsession of mine!
All of these look great! My current favorite additions are banana, shredded zucchini, ground flax, and egg whites-topped with panut butter of course!
