the birthday fun continues
Hello my love bugs!
First and foremost. Happy New Year!

Can you believe it’s 2013, I’m still in a bit of shock of where my past year has gone. It went by way too quick.
♥ ♥ ♥
Are we ready for part two of my amazing birthday weekend? I hope so. Because I actually loved writing this post and basically re-living the weekend.
So we left off with my birthday dinner, the next morning Matt and I had a quick simple breakfast and hit the road for Tucson.

♥ ♥ ♥
Sprinkles on your birthday is a must right? Yes this was a simple bagel breakfast, but I jazzed it up a bit with some sprinkles.
Sprinkles make everything better.
♥ ♥ ♥
When Matt and I arrived in Tucson, there was one spot I really wanted to visit. We were told about this little Mexican joint called El Guero Canelo that was actually known for their hot dogs.
I believe it’s a hot dog wrapped in bacon.
Not something that made my mouth water, but Matt wanted to try one, so as we were actually driving to our hotel, we passed it and took a little detour.

♥ ♥ ♥
Matt said it was good, but nothing incredibly special. Then he said “I don’t know how people can eat less than 3 of these and be full”. I guess they weren’t that filling, but that made me giggle.
So since the hot dog did not stuff him like we thought, it was on to find a lunch spot.
Tucson has a local brewery, Nimbus Brewery, that Matt really wanted to visit, so I thought lunch would be a great opportunity.
We googled it, thought we found the right place and went in.

We decided to sit at the bar and checked out the beer selection. I couldn’t decide what I wanted, so the bartender made me my own special mix. It was the Nimbus Blonde mixed with a raspberry beer.
It was pretty tasty!
My birthday got brought up in conversation and it ended up being free! Thanks bartender!
Our bartender was actually super nice and we chatted quite a bit. This is when we discovered that we were not at the actual brewery. (the lack of beer cylinders had us wondering, but we just assumed we were in the right place.) Turns out the two places were not related anymore, and the place we were at was actually Nimbus Bistro. They served their beers, but wasn’t affiliated with the brewery anymore.
Bummer.
(problem would soon be fixed though, don’t you worry)
Even though it wasn’t the actual brewery we still had a very nice lunch. The beer was good, the food was good, and the company was good.
♥ ♥ ♥
When we had pulled into the Bistro, the first thing I actually noticed was the mini golf place across the street! I got a little bit too excited over it! So after lunch Matt and I drove over to find out it was a whole big entertainment park. Mini golf, go karts, batting cages, games, you name it. And guess what. We did it all! I seriously forgot how much I loved go-karts!!
♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥
Matt may look like he dominated mini golf, but I kicked his butt!!
After all the outside activities we went inside and played some games.
We did horrible, but were able to get a few fun things with our winning tickets.
BFF bracelets. We’re classy like that!
♥ ♥ ♥
After all that fun we finally checked into our hotel.
We didn’t have much time to relax as dinner time was rolling around.
So where did we decide to go for dinner?
Well if you don’t go to the right place for lunch, you go there for dinner.
We bundled up in our winter gear, put on our game faces, and headed out.
♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥
Yes, we found the actual brewery and went there for dinner.
It’s totally ok to eat at the same place twice in one day right?
I mean technically they weren’t the same, remember they’re not related anymore.
And seriously, the atmosphere couldn’t have been more different.
The Bistro was more of your nicer, bistro, fancy atmosphere. Walking into the brewery, we were greeted by live bands and a more of a bar atmosphere. Both were great for what they were, and honestly Matt and I are more comfortable in the bar, laid back settings. We again sat at the bar and had a great night. Our bartender was awesome, the music was good and it was just fun!
After dinner and a few more drinks we were debating going out or just heading back to the hotel.
We both decided we would rather just take advantage of the hotel and relax. We’re both always so go go go that a night of relaxation was just what we needed.
♥ ♥ ♥
The next morning we actually had to head out a bit early due to I had to work, so we went to the the hotel’s continental breakfast (which actually had a nice spread of items) and got back on the road.
♥ ♥ ♥
So overall, even though the trip was short, it was an amazing trip. And really just spending some fun time with Matt was what made it the most special. We haven’t just had “fun days” lately and it was great to laugh and be silly with him.
He is so amazing and truly made my 29th birthday special.
♥ ♥ ♥
So now we’re on to the new year. And I have high expectations for it.
I’m not making any resolutions, I just want to focus on being healthy and happy in all I do. I just want to live.

Are you making a new years resolution?

Your trip may of been short, but gosh girl it sounds like the PERFECT way to celebrate a birthday. I mean starting the day off with sprinkles on your bagel, than getting your drink for free, acting like a kid again, delicious dinner & relaxing back @ hotel… all w/ the man of your dreams?? Can’t get much better than that =)
girl, it was perfect. it was relaxing, it was out of routine, it was what i needed.
i hope you had a wonderful holiday and your 2013 has started out amazing!
That brewery looks awesome, totally not wrong to eat at the same place twice! I love getting birthday freebies!! Mine is coming up soon and I am going to milk it for all it’s worth!
That sounds AMAZING….sometimes a weekend away, no matter how short, is just what you need. I’m glad you had such a lovely birthday weekend.
[And despite the generic comment, I promise I read every word of the recap!]
