Oh loves Happy Wednesday!

I feel like I am still recovering from my marvelous wedding weekend, but I actually got a bit lucky this week with my work schedule and had Tuesday off. It was kind of weird to have Friday – Sunday off, work Monday, then have Tuesday off, but I’ll deal and get back on track.

So even though I had a very indulgent weekend with all my Dallas eats and treats, it didn’t end there.

We had made plans before we left on our trip with our neighbors for a sushi date. It has been way too long since I have had sushi, so regardless of how much we had to do around the house to unravel from the trip, sushi was going to happen!

So for this What I Ate Wednesday, you get a beautiful recap of my sushi deliciousness and all that followed.

We let the neighbors pick the sushi place and we went to a new to us place called Pure Sushi.
We went for happy hour, so it wasn’t too busy which was nice because the hostess let us choose our seating. The place had a really nice atmosphere and I was very optimistic.
We of course started with the mandatory sake bombs and edamame.

I was actually really excited about having sushi with Ben and Katie because like us they have bottomless stomachs when it comes to sushi, have no shame about eating what others might consider an insane amount of food, and they cater to my taking pictures of my food. That equals the perfect eating company if you ask me.

We just kind of randomly ordered through out the night, and it was hard, but I tried to stay on the happy hour menu, but fancy rolls always win me over. I was actually impressed at the variety of rolls they had to offer on their happy hour menu and other than a spicy sweet potato roll, we did pretty good at not going too crazy.
The crunch roll was amazing and even the simple spicy yellow tail I got was great. You can always tell the difference when better quality fish is used. It melts in your mouth.

I think my favorite roll of the night that I ordered was the rainbow roll. It is actually one of my go to rolls and pretty basic, but again, the fish was so fresh and they gave very generous portions of the raw fish on top. Another win in my book.
After we stuffed ourselves with sushi, we already had dessert plans in mind. We had spotted a Yogurtology in the same area when we were walking in.
I’m pretty sure fro-yo is mandatory after sushi. At least with us. It always seems to happen.
Ben and Katie were happy to oblige in my fro-yo demand.

And they had pumpkin and oatmeal cookie! Two of my favorite flavors. I.was.in.heaven.
So I know what you’re thinking. All that sushi. All that fro-yo.
Yes I was one full lady.
But then on the drive home, Katie dropped another bomb that she had made a peanut butter chocolate pie. Homemade crust and all. And we were demanded to have some before the night was over.
As full as I was, how could I say no to pie.
Especially the peanut butter chocolate variety.

(did I mention home made whipped cream and a home made crust?)
You can’t.
I tried really hard to only have one bite, but it was so good. I ended up having a whole slice. (by whole slice I mean I stood over the pan shoveling pie into my mouth)
Let’s just say I had one full belly that night, but it was full of amazing-ness so I think that makes it ok.

Nights like these remind me that it’s normal to have social nights and eating more than you typically would.
It was only one night, I don’t shovel pie into my mouth every night (although they tried really hard the next night to give me more) and I had a great night out with friends. I’m really starting to learn that life is balance, it’s too short to not have nights like these, and I just honestly prefer to live life this way. It’s way more fun.
So my loves. Live it up. Eat some sushi. Eat some frozen yogurt. Eat some pie. And then some.

Do you let loose when out with friends?
What’s your favorite dessert? I clearly can’t decide, so I have them all!
