Beachbody Summit 2017 – New Orleans.

I don’t even know where to start or how to describe my experience at my very first Beachbody Summit. I knew it was going to be life changing, but I wasn’t exactly sure how.

I am still not completely sure, I just know that I am not the same person I was before I went.

I knew I was going to come back inspired, but I truly did not know the extent, and I have a feeling I will only continue to discover each day the value I received in these short 3 days.

So let me try to share with you my experience, what I learned, what my new goals and dreams are and how I plan to achieve these goals. When we share OUR goals, I truly feel it can help inspire others to reach their goals, and DISCOVER their own goals. Sometimes that is the hardest part, figuring out what we want, what we TRULY deep down want. Once we figure that out, it’s a little easier figuring out how to get there. But the hardest part… GETTING THERE. Because one thing I learned YOU have to put in the WORK. And trust me, there WILL be work.

Let’s start from the beginning.

I was nervous. I was scared. Matt originally was suppose to go with me on this trip and at the last minute we decided it was best he stayed home for financial reasons. Even though physically he was not with me, he is always there for me mentally, supporting me, encouraging me, and calming my nerves.

We enjoyed our morning together as he tried to calm my nerves.

(he knows selfies calm my soul)

I arrived on time (and early of course) to the airport and made my way to my gate. I don’t know about anyone else, but one of my biggest anxieties is finding something healthy to eat at the airport. I just am not one of those people who can just grab a bagel because it’s all that is available. I was so happy to find that there is a La Grande Orange Grocery in one of the terminals, and this fruit, granola yogurt was a nice light breakfast.

I did some work while I waited for my boarding time, but of course didn’t get much done. I ended up chatting with another coach and tried to get as much info as I could as what to expect. But as I learned… how can you even describe it in words?

Arriving in New Orleans was surreal. I was greeted in baggage claims by a band playing your traditional New Orleans music. It was so uplifting and a great way to start my visit. I had planned on taking an Uber to the hotel, but a few of my roommates were landing around the same time, so I waited around for their flights to come in. I was so excited to meet these ladies, so ready to have an amazing experience with them. One of their flights were delayed, so once we all arrived it was a quick trip to the hotel to check into our room and then we rushed down to the Conference Center to check in there as well and get all of our credentials and passes. I almost didn’t have time to take it all in yet.

The way this evening went was a true sign, yet I didn’t know it yet, of how the whole weekend would go.

BUSY and FAST.

A quick change of clothes and we were off  to the opening ceremony. Did you all notice something. We didn’t have time for dinner. Do you know this girl? She does NOT skip a meal and needless to say I was a bit Hangry. Thankfully one of the other girls shared an RX Bar she had, and the night was saved for a few hours. But the opening ceremony was so inspiring and exciting, I soon forgot about the hunger. I was filled with so much excitement for what was to come in the next few days.

Back to the hotel it was because the next morning was an early one with our scheduled work outs starting at 6am.  My work out was with Autumn Calabrese doing a 21 Day Fix work out and I was so excited. I initially really wanted to do the Shaun T work out because… well it’s Shaun T  ♥  but that one filled up quick, and since the first program I ever completed was the 21 Day Fix Extreme, I do have a connection to Autumn. She was the instructor that made me fall in love with Beachbody programs.

And she did not disappoint with her work out. It was amazing as expected and such a great experience to have her teaching the class. For her to be in the room pushing me, motivating me, not just on my laptop screen.

I don’t think words can describe the feeling… the difference of being WITH your instructor, someone who you have looked up too. Someone who has personally inspired you to keep pushing, push past the pain, to be the best you can be, to NEVER give up. The energy is unreal.

And by the end I was a sweaty mess. Always a sign of a great work out.

After the work out, I decided to do a little shopping and someone managed to walk out with only one pair of leggings and a sample pack of our newest product. A daily dose of nutrition geared for children! How exciting!! We all want our kids to be healthy, get their fruits and vegetables in, but let’s be real, they’re kids and that doesn’t always happen. I mean, I know I didn’t always love brussel sprouts as much as I do now! This will be a great way to get that nutrition into our children and have it taste a little bit better!

As per me, even though I only purchased one item, it took me a good hour to do so. What can I say, I like to browse. And decide on buying something. Then putting it back. Then walking back to it…only to put it back. Such is life.

Soooo, I may have been a bit rushed to get to my lecture hall. Thankfully they had Shakeology bars set up and since I was so late there was no line. WIN. So I grabbed a quick shake and ran to lecture.

I don’t think you all want to be bored with all the information, inspirational, and motivating information I received from these speakers, but let me just tell you it was a lot. It’s just what I think we all need as coaches to here to get that spark back in being successful in our businesses and who better to tell us then those who are doing it themselves.

Let me leave it this, I took a lot of notes, I’m greatly inspired, and I can not wait to implement some of the tools I learned these past three days.

More impacting than the lectures I think (however this was such a huge take away from this trip) was the group power work out on Saturday morning. This is where all 20,000+ coaches come together on the streets of New Orleans and work out together with ALL the fitness instructors. Each one leading a routine segment from their programs. Now I may have been all the way in the back, but the energy… that energy… it was indescribable. And it was seriously life changing.

I may do another power work out in the future, but nothing can replace that specific feeling. That energy. That vibe. It totally turned the trip around in my opinion. It’s not that my heart wasn’t into it before that work out, but my heart was 100x more into it after. Proof that there was magic in the air; only one of my roommates came with me to it, and me and her connected and bonded in a way we both felt. Soul sisters forever.

Other random, but mentionable events. I ended up being able to go to the V.I.P. success club party. It was a fun night to let loose a little and relax. It was definitely surreal to be in the storage on all the Mardi Gras floats. Kind of creepy, but exciting at the same time.

And I somehow managed to talk my roommates into getting sushi on our last night there.

Totally a win in my book.

Then came closing ceremony. What a whirl wind of emotions. There is NOTHING more inspiring and motivating than to see your peers get rewarded for their accomplishments. I actually see what is possible. To know they started where you are. But, that it is up to YOU to put in the work, the dedication, the time, but to see what you CAN achieve. Again. Words just can not describe.

Even more. Because let’s be real the main purpose of being a Beachbody coach is helping others get fit and healthy. Yes, it is about our journey as well, but the most rewarding part is seeing the success of others. When they were playing the transformation stories, tears came to my eyes with almost every story. To see others gain their health back, to know it was because of these programs, these products, this company, and to know I am a part of that. Would I be a broken record if I said words could not describe that feeling?

It was the perfect end to an amazing three days. Three days that flew by in the blink of an eye. Three days that will forever change my life.

I knew I would come home with more motivation. More drive, but I don’t think I really knew to what extent. But as they tell us, that excitement will fade. It will fizzle. I know it will. I have seen it happen in my challengers when I do my 30 day challenges.  Days 1-15 they are pumped and ready to take over the world, but something always happens, and there is always that turning point. Trust me, I do not think I am an exception to that. But I have faith that I can keep that excitement going. Because as I mentioned, I  met amazing inspiring people, and I know together we can keep each other accountable to real our goals and not to stop until we do… and then go a little bit further.
