september foodie pen pal reveal

So other than my typical I can’t believe how fast time is going, but seriously this year is almost half over and the countdown to Christmas is already beginning, seriously where does time go?

Trust me I am super excited for the holiday season. And things are starting to slightly cool down here in Arizona. By slightly I mean it’s still in the 90’s, but I’ll take it.

Oh and it’s pumpkin season. I eat pumpkin pretty much all year long, but fall time delicacies like these are starting to pop up.

I love Chobani as is, but this pumpkin flavor…

Spot On.

I actually have not been too impressed with a lot of the pumpkin flavors coming out. Yogurtland’s pumpkin frozen yogurt disappointed me, Baskin Robbins pumpkin cheesecake ice cream was a total flop, so I was a bit hesitant when trying this for the first time. But this one did not disappoint. (also the pumpkin spice cupcake I had at work was ah-mazing, but really…pumpkin spice cake…cream cheese frosting…enough said)

But with the coming of October and all things fall we have to cover one important thing first.

This month I was paired up with Trey and this is what he sent me.
♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥
Ed’s Red hot sauce, home made strawberry fig jam and local honey.
You know me and my jam obsession and this stuff was delish.
He also sent a few items local to his area that I thought was very nice.
♥ ♥ ♥
13
♥ ♥ ♥
Fresh sea salt, a sand dollar and a little star fish. Seriously how cute is that? I love when foodie pen pals include little things that are local to them. I haven’t been to the ocean in forever so it was really fun to get these items.
Thanks Trey!
And my fiance thanks you too, he loves the hot sauce. I made him a potato, ham, and cheese hash for breakfast one morning and took it up a notch with the new hot sauce.

I didn’t hear any complaints.
So again, another successful foodie pen pal experience.

 Are you excited for fall?
What’s your favorite fall flavor? As much as I love pumpkin, I really think apple cider is my favorite seasonal item, but nothing in Arizona even compares to the fresh apple cider I got from the apple orchards back in Indiana…

Loves. It’s September.

Can you believe it?

I swear the older I get, the faster time goes.

Remember when we were younger and time seemed to take forever? I miss those days.

But with a new month comes a time that I do look forward too.

And speaking of time flying, it’s amazing to note that I have been doing foodie pen pals for almost 2 years!

Insane.

This month I was paired up with Esther. Her and I share similar diets and food preferences so I knew we would be a good match.

Here is what she sent me.

I had told her that I liked dips, sauces, jams and salsa’s, so I was very excited when I saw the variety that she sent me.

As soon as I saw the salsa I knew I had to try it that night with dinner.  It is defiantly a unique taste, but I really liked it.

I have actually received the apricot preserves and roasted raspberry chipotle sauce in a previous foodie pen pal package, so I knew I would like those! And this coffee loving girl is always excited for flavored coffee’s. I haven’t tried the coconut Thai noodles or peanut coconut sauce yet, but since I love Thai food I’m pretty confident they will not disappoint.

So thank you very much Ester, I loved my package!

Happy August friends!

I hope you are all not melting as much as I am in this crazy Arizona heat!

For once I am glad time is flying because that means summer will be over soon.

But until then, it’s that time.

Foodie Pen Pal reveal time!

As always a big thanks to Lindsay for hosting and make sure to check out her page for more details on this amazing program.

This month I was paired with Lucia.
She had told me that she had recently fractured her ankle which basically left her pretty immobile while she recovered and healed. Her package may have came a little late due to her not being able to shop and get out right away, but trust me it was worth the wait.
Here is what she sent me.

♥ ♥ ♥
Quinoa with Spinach, Kind Bars, multiple flavors of Justin’s nut butters, Cherry Apple  Crisps, Maple Syrup, an Early Grey chocolate bar, and two home goods items: a small bar of soap and hand made pot holders.
She told me while she had to be off her feet she crocheted the pot holders. I love and really appreciate hand made items!
Speaking of home made items… She sent one more goodie.
Home made chocolate coconut cookies.

These were amazing.
Even Delilah wanted one, but sorry little girl, no chocolate for puppies.
There is just something so good about home made cookies and theses were no exception.
You would think since they were small cookies it would help with portion control.
Nope, it just made me want to eat more…
Which may be why there are only crumbs left…
Whoops.
So thank you very much Lucia for everything and I hope you enjoyed your goodies as well!
And I hope your ankle is better!!

What’s your favorite home made cookie?

june foodie pen pal reveal

You know if it wasn’t scorching hot here in Arizona, I don’t think I would have realized that it’s already July. That and we’re closed at work for July 4th, but seriously time is flllyyyyyinnnggg.

The scary thing about time going so quick is now that Matt and I finally picked a wedding date (did I fail to mention that? April 4 2015!!! eeeeee!!)  I know that date is going to be here in a blink of an eye and I just pray that I will  have everything done in time.

Wish me luck.

But on to the present.

♥ ♥ ♥

I was paired up with April and she sent me some tasty goodies.

♥ ♥ ♥

1

♥ ♥ ♥

Nature Valley granola bars, Harvest Nut Mix, Roasted Garlic Pumpkin Seeds, Midwest Spice Rub, Pistachios.

I love pistachios so these went straight into my work bag to snack on.

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

Peach Jam!! French Twists and Bare Fruit Apple Chips.

She wrote in her note that the French Twists were for my fiance as I tell all my foodie pen pals that Matt always appreciates when a sweet treat makes it into the packages.  What April didn’t know was that I  had actually had these French Twists before and loved them, so Matt was going to have to share.

3

♥ ♥ ♥

But ssshhh. Don’t tell him that. It’ll be our little secret.

So thank you April for everything!

This month I was paired with Jenny.  After being informed that she was from Texas, I had one request. Salsa.

She was so sweet to oblige to my request!

Here is what she sent me.

♥ ♥ ♥

1

♥ ♥ ♥

Texas Tango Mango Salsa, Apricot Ginger Preserves and Habanero Pralines.

She actually sent me two Habanero Pralines and I’m not going to lie I was a chicken and made Matt be my guinea pig with trying one first.

I even got it on video!

♥ ♥ ♥

Matt eating habanero praline.

♥ ♥ ♥

I love his willingness and acceptance of me shoving random things in his mouth. (insert dirty pun here)

All for the sake of food blogging right?

He’s such a trooper.

But in the end a thumbs up!

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

As a thank you I also shared the salsa with him.  We had intentions of using it with some fish tacos, but ended up just dipping some tortilla chips in it while we were cooking dinner one right. I love sweet salsa’s, this one was a perfect balance of sweet/spicy.

Thanks Jenny for everything!

♥ ♥ ♥

Would you try a habanero praline?

Make sure you check out my last post for some free goodies!

MAY!

Goodness. This year is flying by!

I’ll skip my ramblings because every time a new month comes and go it just blows my mind, so let’s get straight to the fun stuff of a new month and that is Foodie Pen Pals! I can’t believe I’ve been participating in this for almost two years, but it is something that I really enjoy doing! So if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend heading over to Lindsay’s site and getting the details on it.

I was paired up with Katie this month and from her first e-mail I was pretty excited, because she just seemed so sweet and really excited about the program like I am.

Sometimes I get specific with my foodie pen pals on my likes and dislikes, but in talking with her, I pretty much told her to get me whatever she wanted because she seemed to have access to some pretty fun stuff.

Here is what she sent me.

♥ ♥ ♥

4

♥ ♥ ♥

Quaker Popped Chips – Sour Cream and Onion, Sweet Potato Tortilla Chips, two types of salsa’s and I believe her own Snack Mix combination.

This chip/dip loving girl was happy. But it didn’t end there. She sent me something else that got me even more excited.

♥ ♥ ♥

5

♥ ♥ ♥

Four different types of beers!

We both expressed our love for a good adult beverage and I was pleasantly surprised to see the assortment of beers she sent me.

Ironically the Timber Beast was my favorite and I say ironically because Matt and I joked that the guy on the label resembled him.

Yes I am dating a bearded lumberjack of a man – and he makes a dang good beer!

There was also one more special treat that I had to quickly get photographed separately, because upon arrival of the package a certain someone was requesting to eat one of the contents immediately.

♥ ♥ ♥

7

♥ ♥ ♥

Katie also sent two chocolate cakes and Matt pretty much claimed those as his the moment he saw them.

We also had a little puppy guest who was trying to get her paws on them as well.

Matt didn’t share.

The first thing I dove into however was the snack mix. I love it because it has a sweet and spicy aspect to it having dried cranberries (or maybe cherries?), walnuts and wasabi peas. An interesting mix, but it works.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

I was nicer than Matt however and shared.

Katie sent me over a picture of her goodies once they arrived. She also told me that the home made dog treats I sent her got her and her husbands parents dogs approval! Yay!

♥ ♥ ♥

image.jpeg

♥ ♥ ♥

Katie had told me that she liked a wide variety of items and also loved sauces and items that could be added to meals. I sent her a local salsa, curry sauce, dried julienne tomatoes, Trader Joes Caramel Popcorn, a local beer and since it was Easter I felt it was necessary to include a chocolate bunny!

Overall a great Foodie Pen Pal month, thanks Katie!

Is this year flying by for you?

march foodie pen pal reveal

Oh loves, another month gone.

Where does the time go?

I am so consumed with work that sometimes I feel I really do not have a life. I love my job don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I really wish I had a work at home job, however on the other end of the spectrum, I feel like if I were to be home all day I would go stir crazy and just wish I could get out of the house more.  Such a double edge sword. With that being said be on the look out for a upcoming post on energy, how to have more and natural ways to get it.  I love being able to recognize issues I am having in my life, researching them, and sharing the findings with all of you, because I know I am not the only one who is probably lacking energy.

But that is for another time.  Since it is the end of one month and the start of another, I have other fun things to share with you today.

It’s Foodie Pen Pal reveal day!

This month I was paired up with Brianna from Tea With Bri.

After just a few e-mails I quickly realized we were foodie twins. We basically had the same likes/dislikes and goodie preferences. I knew she would be easy and fun to shop for.  With that being said I was very excited for what she would find for me.

Here is what she sent me.

♥ ♥ ♥

fpp1

♥ ♥ ♥

Local almond cookies, cranberry salsa, pumpkin seed protein, and a Pure Bliss mocha java energy bar.

Want to guess what I tried first?

♥ ♥ ♥

fpp

♥ ♥ ♥

I know surprise surprise I dove straight into the cookies.

I just love the idea of local goodies and items that I can’t get by me. And are cookies ever bad? I don’t think so.

I haven’t used the pumpkin seed protein yet, but I’m excited to incorporate it into something yummy, I just need to think of something… The salsa, well you can’t tell, but I ate about 1/2 of the jar before I took pictures, so if that says anything I think you can guess I like it!

Overall a great package, thanks Brianna for everything!

Can you believe it’s already the end of March?

What are you looking forward to in April?

november foodie pen pal reveal

So. It’s December. (!!!)

With December comes a few fun things. Christmas is a given. My birthday is a second given. (the big 3-0 ahhhh)

But it also means it’s almost the new year.

That to me is mind blowing. I feel like 2013 just got here and now it’s already almost 2014.

But with the end of November and the beginning December comes one more fun time.

Foodie Pen Pal reveal day.

This month I was paired up with Shaylee who was a first time pen pal participant.

Here is a peek at what she sent me.

♥ ♥ ♥

6

♥ ♥ ♥

The box was filled with a wide variety of items. Some items I have had before, some new to me items.

Included were: banana chips, wild rice, candy cane tea, stuffed grape leaves, Justin’s almond butter, and maple chipotle sweet potato chips.

I was defiantly intrigued my a few items.

♥ ♥ ♥

8

♥ ♥ ♥

The banana chips went straight to Matt as he loves those, I’m not a huge tea fan, but I actually really like the candy cane tea, so that will be perfect for the chilly weather that is coming upon us. Almond butter = always a win and I’m sure I can find some fun recipes to include the rice in!

I’m not going to lie on first glance, the stuffed grape leaves kind of left me uneasy. I have never had them and for some reason I assumed there were olives involved since they were Greek and I am just not an olive fan.  But in looking more closely at the can and reading what was in them, I was pleasantly surprised to see it was stuffed with a quinoa mixture.  So I am actually really excited to try these!

The other thing I was real excited to try were the sweet potato chips.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

You better believe that bag got opened soon after arrival and I am happy to report they are as good as they sound.

Thank you for everything Shaylee, and I hope you enjoyed all I sent you and you had a great first time foodie pen pal experience!
