snacks i’m loving

Hello my loves.

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. It’s so hard for me to concept a weekend anymore since I work every Saturday, my weekends fly by a lot quicker when I only have one day to really relax.  And not that I don’t miss him, but Matt was at a design conference all weekend, so I actually had some quiet time to myself. But I’m not going to lie, it can get a little boring.

I probably should have worked on more wedding things, as I feel like it is quickly creeping up on me, and I still have so much to do, but I took the quiet time to actually just relax and chill out. I try to keep my stress levels low, but when you finish addressing all your save the dates only to notice at the very end that there was a typo on the date and the wrong year was printed… kind of hard not to freak out a bit.

It doesn’t help that on top of it all Matt and I have both been sick for the past few days, so I haven’t had much motivation or energy to do more than lay on the couch in my spare moments.

But I did of course want to check in with you lovelies and share a few goodies.

Since I’ve been sick, my appetite has of course been a bit off. I find myself snacking a lot more as I don’t have as big of a hunger for big meals.  But I’ve never had problems with being a snacker and thankfully I have had some tasty treats showing up at the house.

When I know I need to get some energy in me and don’t have the appetite for a huge meal, nuts are always a go to for me.

Have you guys heard of Living Nutz?

♥ ♥ ♥

They provide raw organic nuts and seeds and they come in some really interesting flavors.  Not only do I think the fact that their products are organic are great, but the fact that they are raw and unprocessed  I think is amazing.  They explain that this keeps more nutrients and enzymes in the nuts, making them better for you. And did I mention their amazing flavors?

♥ ♥ ♥

3

♥ ♥ ♥

I was most blown away by the Tahitian Vanilla Coco Creme Walnuts, as I love walnuts to begin with, but the exotic vanilla flavor was amazing. I ate these straight from the bag, but also topped my yogurt and ice cream with them. Such a nice sweet crunch.

The Vegan Cheezy Almonds were another favorite and these were a great addition to my salads.  Again a nice added crunch.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

Have I mentioned I love crunch? I am such a texture eater.

Speaking of crunch.

I recently reviewed the new Quest Nutrition protein chips and I am still loving those.

Perfect little protein snack and I highly recommend if you have any left over guacamole from Chipotle like I did, they go amazing together.

♥ ♥ ♥

1

♥ ♥ ♥

But really anything covered in guacamole, especially from Chipotle, is amazing.

And while we’re on the topic of amazing, you know what else is amazing?

Winning giveaways.

I was lucky enough to win a few giveaways recently and had my prizes delivered.

I am so excited to try these new KIND granola bars. I am a huge fan of their other bars and granola, so I’m pretty sure I will be a fan of these as well!

I also received another surprise on my door step recently.  I have worked with Enjoy Life Foods in the past in reviewing some of their products and honestly I have never been disappointed in what they make. I recently made my very first chocolate chip pumpkin bread using their dairy free mini chips ( keep an eye out for a recipe), that when this surprise package arrived I was more than excited.

♥ ♥ ♥

5

♥ ♥ ♥

I love their seed and fruit mixes and love that their products are nut free and gluten free. A perfect snack when I need a little something in between meals. I take this to work a lot to snack on through out the day. So thank you very much to all my friends at Enjoy Life for thinking of me and sending these my way!

♥ ♥ ♥

What snacks have you been enjoying lately?

♥ ♥ ♥

do you even quark?

I know. What a lame introduction to an awesome new to me product.

I love my greek yogurt. I will admit that the tangy taste of plain greek yogurt took some getting use to, but I just adore that thick texture.

So when I heard of Elli’s Quark I was intrigued. And after reading their description on their website, I knew I would love this product.

Elli Quark is a spoonable fresh cheese with a creamy texture similar to Greek yogurt,
but with a richer, less sour taste. It also has a better protein-to-carb ratio than
Greek yogurt, with high protein and no added sugars.”

Sound’s pretty delicious right?

And if that wasn’t tempting enough, check out all the amazing flavors they offer.

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

I mean seriously. Red Velvet, Sea Salt Caramel, Mint Chocolate, just to name a few. And of course some delicious classics like Blueberry, Peach and Vanilla.  I honestly didn’t know what to try first.

♥ ♥ ♥

3

♥ ♥ ♥

I started with a classic though and tried the peach.

And as expected the texture was spot on, and I was really impressed with the chunks of peach that was in the quark.

♥ ♥ ♥

4

♥ ♥ ♥

But really, look at that creaminess.

I will honestly say though that the flavors I thought I would enjoy the most…I didn’t. I of course was crazy excited for the red velvet and banana fosters, but found myself enjoying the peach and strawberry the best. Sometimes simplicity is better.

Overall though I was very impressed with Elli Quark and would gladly purchase it again.

♥ ♥ ♥

Have you heard of Quark?

What flavor would you be most excited to try?

quest nutrition chips review

So let’s start with a little honesty. I know Quest Nutrition bars are all the rave. And yes, I drool over all the Quest creations that are all over Pinterest and Instagram. But up until recently I never had the best Quest bar experience. Maybe I just had the bad luck of always getting duds, but it seemed all my Quest bars were always hard and not soft and doughy like I was seeing everyone else experience. So I won’t lie in saying that I kind of gave up on Quest bars. That was until the new Cookie’s and Cream flavor came out.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_0461

♥ ♥ ♥

This flavor completely changed my mind on Quest bars. I was hooked.

Proof?

♥ ♥ ♥

4

♥ ♥ ♥

I got a whole box.

But note to self: the longer these sit the harder they get. Maybe that was my problem in the past? I was buying bars that had been sitting out awhile. I just didn’t seem to eat them quick enough and as time passed it seemed the bars got harder and harder.

So with my new found love for the Quest Bars you can imagine this snack girls excitement when she saw that Quest Nutrition was coming out with a new product.

Chips!!

I.Love.Chips.

We all know I am a huge dipper, so chips are by far one of my favorite snacks. And a chip with added protein?

Count me in.

Seriously, I got a got a bit too excited when my Quest chips showed up on my doorstep.

♥ ♥ ♥

1

♥ ♥ ♥

And to my delight these did not disappoint.

♥ ♥ ♥

3

♥ ♥ ♥

I broke into the cheddar & sour cream first because those are one of my favorite flavors of regular chips.

These chips basically reminded me of a baked chip, but it’s great knowing there was extra protein in these.

I wish I could say I made something fancy to dip them in, but I seriously just ate them straight out of the bag.

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

My only complaint?

That the bags weren’t bigger. Seriously, this girl can demolish a bag of chips in a matter of seconds.

But with these, I didn’t have any guilt after.

So if you haven’t tried these new chips I highly recommend you do. And with my new found love for all things Quest I am anxious to try their pasta as well. Because let’s be real, who doesn’t love pasta, and if I can find a guilt free delicious pasta? Sign me up!

♥ ♥ ♥

Have you tried Quest’s new chips?

What’s your favorite Quest Bar flavor? Any fun recipes?

pasta chips

Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope your weeks have started off well.

I come to you today with some fun stuff.

We all know I love my chips, crackers and breads. Yup. Total carb girl here. #noshame

With that being said though, as much as I love Italian food, it’s not something I cook often. And now that I type that out I really don’t know why.  I love the flavor profiles of Italian food and recently discovered a product that combines two of my favorite things.

Chips + Italian flavor.

Pasta Chips

♥ ♥ ♥

6

♥ ♥ ♥

Yes loves you heard me. As soon as I heard of these I knew I had to try them.

The crisp chip that I love with amazing Italian flavors.

They come in 5 flavors:

Marinara, Sea Salt, Garlic Olive Oil, Spicy Tomato Herb and Alfredo.

I was clearly very excited about these, enough so to take wonderful chip selfies.

♥ ♥ ♥

8

♥ ♥ ♥

I honestly would say out of all the flavors the sea salt was one of my favorites.

It was just a very versatile chip that I used to dip in multiple spreads and also just munched straight out of the bag.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_0695

♥ ♥ ♥

Sadly however all my chips did not travel safely.

Doesn’t mean they still weren’t tasty, but a few of the bags were all crumbs so I basically had to salvage what was in the bag and then actually used the crumbs to sprinkle over other dishes. I guess if any flavor had to be crumbs the spicy tomato herb were a good flavor, as the flavor was pretty intense so I actually sprinkled it over some salads and used it as a little flavor boost.

♥ ♥ ♥

7

♥ ♥ ♥

Sometimes you gotta work with what you have! Improvise people.

Overall though I loved the chips.

And if you are like me and love Italian food and love chips I think you’ll love them too!

And one more fun thing about Pasta Chips, they give you tons of great recipes to try using their products. And let’s be real, with the lack of creativity I have been having lately, this has been great!

So make sure you check them out!

♥ ♥ ♥

Disclaimer: I was sent free samples of Pasta Chips however I was not compensated and the opinions are my own.

barnana got even more marvelous

Snacking. I do it a lot.

Sometimes I wish I didn’t, but sometimes I am so glad I do.

Because when you have delicious things to snack on. Well that’s pretty marvelous.

Awhile back I tried Barnana in their original and chocolate chewy bites. You guys know me and I love my banana’s and basically anything banana related. Their products were no different.

Barnana contacted me to let me know they had recently came out with two new flavors. Two flavors that happen to be some of my favorites as well. Peanut Butter and Coconut.

♥ ♥ ♥
5

♥ ♥ ♥

Since I knew how much I liked the original flavors, I had no doubt that I would also enjoy these two new flavors.
I was right.

Unfortunately due to living in Arizona and us having stupid hot weather, the peanut butter Barnana bites were a bit melted and kind of formed one big chunk. Now this may sound like a problem and maybe in the sense of having to review the product and try to make it look appealing, well that might be an issue, but really a big chunk of peanut butter wasn’t a bad thing in my opinion.  And after talking with my contact at Barnana, she informed me that sticking them in the fridge helped.

♥ ♥ ♥

1-2

♥ ♥ ♥

So that is what I did and just broke off little chunks as I wanted them. Again, maybe not as photogenic, but still tasty!

The coconut flavor traveled a bit better and they really reminded me a lot of the original bites in taste, but one thing I really liked about these was the texture. They almost reminded me of the Navitas Naturals energy bites that I love.

♥ ♥ ♥

6

♥ ♥ ♥

I have been on a huge coconut kick lately, so the combination of coconut and banana was an interesting one. In a good way.

I also love how these bites are organic, gluten free and have no GMOs. If I am going to snack, I like to make sure they are as natural and healthy as possible. It is so easy to just grab granola bars or other snacks that are full of sugar and unnatural ingredients.

And honestly, these are just really dang good.

♥ ♥ ♥

1-1

♥ ♥ ♥

So Barnana you did it again.

And to all of you, if you haven’t tried their products yet, I highly recommend you do. Any of their flavors are great, but if you’re like me chocolate or peanut butter would be my first picks!

♥ ♥ ♥

Have you tried Barnana products?

What flavor would you try first?

celebrating in spirit

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

I can almost guarantee you that I will not be celebrating as I would like, which would be with beer and yummy Mexican food, but life has been way too busy for me even to attempt to plan something, have time to do something, or make something at home.

Sometimes I really hate this whole being an adult thing and all this responsibility stuff like going to work, paying bills, keeping a clean house. Remember when we were kids and couldn’t wait to grow up? If I only knew!

So since I can’t give you any Cinco De Mayo fun, it is still Monday and that means I can give you some other marvelous things that have been going on.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

Matt and I have found some time to get out and enjoy our days.

Last weekend he participated in a Pinewood Derby, which I didn’t even know they hosted events like this…for adults and I didn’t think it would be all that fun in all honesty.  He really wanted me to come out though to watch, so after I got out of work I headed out to meet him.

First off, it was a really cool event and a lot more people were there than I thought.  It was at a cute little bar downtown and they had a food truck and everything set up for the event. I couldn’t stay long because I actually had to go back to work, but I got to watch one of his races (which he won!) and had a quick beer with him.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8912

♥ ♥ ♥

I actually wish I could have stayed longer. He is trying real hard to get me to participate next year. I’ll pass on the actual racing, but I’m all about showing up for support.

Funny side note. I’ve noticed almost every selfie Matt and I take I make the same face. Always open mouthed. Someone on Instagram commented that it was the “invisible sandwich” face. Love it!

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8996

♥ ♥ ♥

11

♥ ♥ ♥

Proof.

We’re predictable what can I say.

♥ ♥ ♥

Other marvelous things: Snacking.

I have been such a snack monster lately. Thankfully I have had some pretty tasty snacks laying around to be there when my little snack monster attacks.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8896

♥ ♥ ♥

Have you guys heard of Buff Bake?

They make these cute little protein muffins called Buffins and just recently came out with a new Buff Butter.  The really awesome thing about their products is their ingredients. They use high quality organic ingredients which I love. They make a great post workout snack.  Since I work out first thing in the morning, but don’t eat breakfast until I get to work, I always have to have a snack at home before I leave. These have been great for that…which is why they are already gone!

I only got to try the Buffins, which I loved, but I am dying to try the Buff Butters. I mean we all know my obsession with nut butters as is.

♥ ♥ ♥

1-1♥ ♥ ♥

Other snacks?

Well thanks to the Simply Choices, it was like Christmas at my house in the snack department.

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

I have always been a huge fan of their bars, but I am really excited to try their other products.

I already dug into Coconut Raspberry Simply Protein Crunch. I didn’t know if they were going to be big or small chunks, but I was pleasantly surprised to see they were bigger chunks. So I’ve been having a few handfuls here and there. They would probably also be great as a oatmeal or yogurt topping. Remind me to do that next time…

♥ ♥ ♥

3

♥ ♥ ♥

And I was super excited to see some new to me flavors of the bars.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

Chocolate Mint is probably my favorite flavor of everything.

Well loves, I hope you all have a wonderful Cinco De Mayo! Drink some margaritas and eat some tacos for me! I’ll be with you in spirit!

♥ ♥ ♥

Did you celebrate Cinco De Mayo?

What are some of your favorite snacks?

purely twins no flour cracker and flatbread ebook [review]

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of The Purely Twins.  All opinions as always are my own.

♥ ♥ ♥

There are a lot of recipes on the internet and thanks to Pinterest I spend countless hours looking at them.  I get so much inspiration from others and I say inspiration, because let’s be honest, we all know me and I can’t follow a recipe 100% to save my life.  When we find recipes online it’s usually just one random recipe from one random website.  There are few websites or blogs that I like or want to make all of their recipes.  I can honestly say though that The Purely Twins are an exception to that rule.

I swear almost every recipe they create I want to immediately recreate. Whether or not I get around to it is another thing altogether, but the point is, these two ladies are masterminds in the kitchen.

They recently released their new No Flour Cracker and Flatbread ebook, and I knew it was something that I would love as I love the fact that they use real, raw, all natural ingredients to create delicious wholesome crackers and flatbreads.  I was lucky enough to be able to get their ebook and review it and let me tell you.  If you love raw nutritious crackers and flatbreads, you will love this ebook.

♥ ♥ ♥

front cover cracker cookbook

♥ ♥ ♥

Upon looking over the recipes I knew the first one that I wanted to try.

Raw Kale and Hemp Seed Flatbread.

Ironically they soon released a video of them making this exact recipe, so I made sure to watch it as a guidance.

These recipes are all super simple and really only require a food processor!

So I gathered my ingredients are started blending!

♥ ♥ ♥

5

♥ ♥ ♥

Along with the simple process comes a simple ingredient list.

I put everything in my food processor and let it do all the work. Plopped it on my parchment paper line baking sheet, scored it into triangles and into the oven it went.

♥ ♥ ♥

6

♥ ♥ ♥

The finished product?

A crisp flatbread that can be topped with almost anything.

♥ ♥ ♥

7

♥ ♥ ♥

Guacamole, hummus and tahini to name a few. I loved the versatility of this flatbread and it was seriously so tasty even on it’s own.

The next recipe I chose to make was the Beet Flatbread.

I have always been extremely intrigued by beets, and other than attempting to roast them, haven’t had much experience. I’m always up for a challenge though, so I was very excited about trying this recipe. The combination of ingredients also had me very interested on how this flatbread would taste in the end.

So in my food processor went the ingredients. (I seriously love how easy these flatbreads come together – so simple to make)

♥ ♥ ♥

1

♥ ♥ ♥

I absolutely love the pink color beets automatically give to the batter.

♥ ♥ ♥

2

♥ ♥ ♥

Just like the kale flatbread, I spread the mixture on lightly greased parchment paper and baked in the oven.

Verdict?

Oh my goodness. If I thought I liked the kale hemp seed flatbread, I loved the beet flatbread.

Also if I thought tahini on the kale flatbread was good, tahini on the beet flatbread was amazing.

♥ ♥ ♥

3

♥ ♥ ♥

I have enjoyed these flatbreads with almost every meal and am loving the versatility of what you can top them with. Even though the beet flatbread is a savory bread, the apple gives it that little bit of sweetness to where you could also top this with sweeter toppings if desired. (or nut butter, because really nut butter goes good with anything and everything)

The ebook has so many great recipes and I can’t wait to try  more, next on my list is definitely the Cheez and Pizza crackers. And if they are half as good as these flatbreads were, they will be amazing.

So if you want to make some wholesome home made flatbreads and crackers of your own, I highly recommend getting this ebook and at the bargain price of only $5.00 there really is no excuse not to. There are two options, you can buy the ebook version, or you can buy a hard copy. Whichever you prefer!

So a big thank you to Lori and Michelle for creating these amazing recipes and giving me the opportunity to review the ebook. I am very excited to try every recipe. And guess what guys, I even followed them 100%!

things i’m loving friday

Hello loves!

It’s been awhile since I have posted a things I’m loving type post, and do I ever have a lot to share! I am loving a lot lately!

So let’s skip the small talk and get straight to it!

♥ ♥ ♥

EPIC Bar

IMG_8374 - Copy

♥ ♥ ♥

EPIC Bar is a 100% grass fed animal based protein bar which is paleo, gluten free, and low in sugar.

Since I don’t eat a lot of meat, I thought this was a great way to get high quality protein into my diet!

Out of the flavors I tried I have to say the Beef – habenero cherry was my favorite.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8395

♥ ♥ ♥

I never have had grass fed beef and I must say there is a definite difference. The flavor combination was just really great and balanced. I was surprised how much I liked it. I want more.

Next was the Turkey – almond cranberry.

♥ ♥ ♥

photo(1)

♥ ♥ ♥

This one had an interesting sweet flavor to it. Kind of like a Thanksgiving dinner in a bar!

The next flavor I tried was the Lamb – currant mint, I was very intrigued by this one.

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8630

♥ ♥ ♥

This one I felt the bar was a little greasy.  Again, with not ever having eaten lamb, maybe that’s just typically how the meat is, but this one wasn’t my favorite.

Overall though I think the bars are great! As I said since I don’t eat a lot of meat I really enjoyed adding these to my diet, not only am I getting added protein, but high quality protein at that! Seriously, I want more of the beef!

♥ ♥ ♥

The Purely Twins  No Flour Cracker and FlatBread ebook

♥ ♥ ♥

I will be doing a more in-depth review on this, but I am loving the recipes I have made so far from this cookbook.

Here is a sneak peak of what’s to come.

♥ ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8855

All I can say is both of these were amazing, and SO easy to make.

♥ ♥ ♥

Crunchies Natural Snacks

Crunchies offers freeze dried fruits and vegetables. The great thing about these snacks is they have no additives or preservatives which means no added sugars or oils. Just a straight up healthy snack!

♥ ♥ ♥

7

♥ ♥ ♥

The freeze dried grapes were my absolute favorite! They were the only fruit that I got to try and it just made me want more! I definitely want to try some of the other freeze dried fruits they have to offer.  These were great straight out of the bag, but I also threw them on top of my greek yogurt, pancakes/waffles and oatmeal. They would probably be good in a home made granola as well!

♥ ♥ ♥

IMG_8310

♥ ♥ ♥

The BBQ Roasted Veggies were great as well and I will admit, I ate the majority of this straight from the bag. However I think this would be a great salad topper.

I love healthy snack options that I don’t have to worry about a bunch of added junk, I also love that these can be a healthy addition to any dish I am making. Loved them.

♥ ♥ ♥

Well loves I have plenty more I want to share with you, but it will have to wait until another time.

Happy Friday!

♥ ♥ ♥
