Hello friends!

I hope everyone’s week is going fabulous.

Mine has been busy busy busy.

But you know I love to check in to let you know what I have been up too and also to check in with all you lovlies.

So tell me, how have all of you been? Any exciting news?

We’ve been running around like chickens with our heads cut off, both of us busy with our side business’s and others fun life stuff, but somehow we always find time to have a little fun.

We recently checked out a new to us Thai restaurant that had high recommendations.

Red Thai is located in a little strip mall and from the outside may not look like anything special, but it was really neat inside.  Think NY Thai restaurant, more modern. They had a really nice bar set up that lined the whole inside of the restaurant and also had anime playing on big screen TVs. There was also a DJ mixing live music, so that was also a fun twist.  Overall it just had a really cool vibe and atmosphere.

Matt and I were meeting some company so while we waited we ordered a drink.

I ordered the Pinku No Hana, which seriously tasted of flowers. It was made with sake, jasmine infused vodka, and ruby red grapefruit juice. It was such a refreshing drink.

When it came time to order, I just had no idea what I wanted. It was one of those everything sounded good moments. However, right before I ordered I had seen this salad be served to another table, asked the waiter what it was, and decided to order it. It was a papaya mint salad with fried tofu and topped with crushed peanuts.

Now. This was a good salad, however, when it comes to Thai food, I should have went with my gut and ordered a meat and rice dish like I typically do. The salad just left something to be desired. However, Matt ordered the yellow curry which was PHENOMENAL and he so graciously let me eat some of his. It just means we’ll have to go back so I can try something else. Darn.

The next day Matt and I had some errands to run and since it was a beautiful day out we decided to stop by True Foods to have a cocktail.

I typically order the cucumber margarita, but just wasn’t feeling it that day, so I asked the bartender to just make me his favorite cocktail.

He chose the Thai Basil Martini.

Little did he know what I just had the previous night.

But to his credit, this martini was so delicious! Again, so fresh. I definitely think this will be my new go to drink there. Matt ordered the Cherry Bourbon Sour which was very tasty as well.

Hi loves.

I still exist.

I think the holiday’s everyone gets crazy busy, so I know there are you that feel me on that one, but so much more has been going on around here.

I have had a crazy of a New Year already, a lot of change, a lot of change to come.

Possible job changes, not changing jobs, then changing jobs again?
Yea, it makes just about as much sense to me too. But needless to say, I was contemplating leaving my current clinic for another…then decided to give mine another chance. And I guess I can just leave it at that. It was stressful to say the least.

Thankfully on one of my most stressful days, I had a little stress relief.

It was so nice just to de-stress a little with the one person who actually matters. Because despite all the petty drama. Certain people matter. And certain people don’t.

This whole process has really helped me realize I need to stay positive and not let others get to me and run my life. I can’t help it though, I’m a sensitive gal!

Another stress in my life however has been the process of house hunting. Goodness, I did not realize how emotionally draining this process was.

Matt and I joked that buying a house was going to turn us into alcoholics.

Well friends, that’s just the tip of the iceberg of what’s been going on, but I wanted to check in with you all! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their New Year and all is going well.

OH! One more thing before I leave. I am just so excited that I have to share. I recently started my new Hammer & Chisel program and at first, I’m not going to lie, I was seeing so many people getting all these results and I just felt like I wasn’t see the same in me. But now that I am at the start of my third week, I finally am seeing some results I am so psyched about!

Has anything exciting happened in the beginning of your New Year?

Hi friends. Yes I exist. I can’t tell you how many times I told myself I needed to write a post and go figure I found others things to do instead. But with it being Christmas in (oh my gosh) 3 days, I think it’s safe to say we have all been a little busy.

So I thought to catch you up on what’s been going on, I would do a photo dump of a post. It’s more fun to look at pictures rather than listen to me talk, or read for that matter.

So let’s go back.

Yes I know it is a lot of food. And yes, we did eat it all. I got a lot of comments of “oh my gosh how can you eat so much and stay skinny?” A few thoughts ran through my mind when these comments were made. One was “am I eating too much?” And then I really thought about it. I eat to enjoy food and to enjoy the moments. And I also work hard to be able to eat these meals on occasion. (and in reality, this isn’t that much food, Matt and I split this and let’s be real, I’ve eaten more) I am a firm believe in a healthy balanced lifestyle and sometimes that means one more glass of wine than I should probably have, but it also means staying on track with my fitness. So in response I made this post.

I do work hard so I can play hard.  My post basically said this was me the day after my big meal out and this is why I feel no guilt or even think twice about having a big meal. I can’t say I believe in the 80/20 rule, I just believe in living life and being healthy. And for me that’s eating clean and being active. And if I have a dinner out, I don’t even give it a second thought. It’s all about the moment, and this sushi dinner and a date with my husband. That’s what it was about. I could basically ramble forever, but basically my point is, think about your comments  before you say them. I know the comments were not made to be hurtful, but you never know how someone may interpret them.

So to my fellow wives and girlfriends, I know we always love our significant others, but do you ever go through times when you really love them? Does that make sense? I always love Matt, but I go through these times where I am just so deeply in love with him. And I love it. Too much love? Never.

(side note about this picture. this may be why i love this man so much. i had to rush out because matt had to get to work but we wanted to get coffee and breakfast, so i had no make up on, and one of the first things out of his mouth was “you are so beautiful” and i know he meant it.)

Hello friends. I don’t think I even need to apologize for my MIA status ( even thought I am so sorry ) but I feel like you are all use to it. I don’t even know where time is going because seriously, it’s almost Thanksgiving. Before I know it, it will be Christmas, my birthday, the New Year and then my mind will explode.

So what have I been up too? Lot’s and nothing new all at the same time. If that is even possible. Things are still busy with the new business, it’s a slow month, but I know that is just part of the business and there will be ups and downs. I actually came across this neat info graphic and even though so simple, so true. Sometimes we need little reminders like this, so we don’t freak out and just want to quit.

Oh so true.

However, on that note, I am still loving being an online fitness coach. It seriously is just so rewarding helping others on their health journey’s and being able to be a part of it. I also know the holiday’s are a time where we all kind of struggle with maintaining a clean diet and keep up with our fitness. I myself am no exception. Especially when treats like these pop up at the clinic.

I mean who can say no to the most adorable paw print cookies? This girl can’t. So what I am really trying to focus on is giving myself permission to enjoy these treats and not let myself feel guilty afterwards. I don’t want to say I am a believer in the 80/20 rule, but I am a believer that it is OK to have a cookie once in a while. I eat healthy the rest of the day, so 1 cookie will NOT undo all my progress and effort I have put in. It’s almost like I eat clean and keep my fitness up the rest of the time so I CAN eat these treats guilt free. I know on Thanksgiving I will not be restricting and will fully enjoy myself because I know I will get right back on track the next day. (ok so at Matt’s parents we always have cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next morning, so maybe the next next day 😉 I mean I can’t break tradition…)

But before we get ahead of ourselves and pretend it’s already Thanksgiving (I want time to go as slow as possible these days) let’s take a look at what happened last week.

Again, everything and nothing all at the same time.

Meals have been super simple lately. But that doesn’t mean not delicious.

Deli turkey, 1/2 avocado and veggies and hummus. Simple, but delicious and satisfying. And I think I’ve said this before, but sprinkling sea salt on your avocado… life changing.

Speaking of sprinkling things, on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s I fell trap to the must try all the new things. I swear I walk into that place needing 1 thing and 10 things end up in my cart. Well it’s not completely my fault (at least that’s what I tell myself). For example, I had this guy in my hand and the worker informed me 1. it was good 2. it was limited time and 3. it was flying off the shelf. Ma’am you are wonderful at your job, because this landed in my cart to try.

My boss gave me a bottle of wine as a thank you for doing so well when I covered for a co-worker when she was out on maternity leave. (side note: i totally know a client gave him this wine, and he didn’t try to pretend like he bought it for me or anything, but i kind of laughed.)

And we’re now out watching the football game and working.  This is actually something new that we started doing (the working part, not the watching football) because for both of us we are somehow more productive when we are out of the house.

So this post probably would have taken me all day to write and finally post and now I think I will actually get it posted within the hour that I started.

Mind blowing, I know.

So loves, with that being said I am actually going to try and watch the game, even though it continues to be painful to watch the Colts play this season.

Hello my loves!

I hope you are all having a very relaxing Sunday. I just wanted to pop in real quick to let you all know I am alive and well and share some of the weekend happenings.

It’s actually been pretty quiet around here. I am back to working Saturday’s, which I didn’t hate, but I am not going to lie, I got kind of use to having the weekend off. I’m glad Matt and I were at least able to get to the farmers market once.

This weekend was basically spent running errands and working. Matt and I are both very happy running our side business’s, but I’m telling you, if I’m not at work, I’m at work. 😉

But Sunday was a day for fun!

I swear I can’t sleep in even if I want to. My body is on such routine that even on my days off I am up by at least 7am. Which to me is actually sleeping in! Sunday’s are no different, but I take advantage of my early mornings and get my work out done right away.

Sunday’s are technically rest day on the 21 day fix, but I usually add a random run in the middle of my week instead of the scheduled work out and use that as my rest day. So today I did the Dirty 30 and it’s a good one.

When Matt finally stirred we went out and did our traditional Sunday breakfast of biscuits and gravy. I kid you not, these are not fancy by any means, but are seriously the best biscuits and gravy. I honestly get so excited when for them.

I pretty much love it, I am just hoping it doesn’t fade out as quickly as I think it will.

So a little side note, I have that triangle hair line in the back and typically get it shaved off because I think it looks silly.  Well when my hair stylist was cutting my hair she made mention of a new trend. It’s kind of like when the guys were shaving lines in the sides of their heads, well I guess it’s a girl thing too.

Friends I am so sorry. I really hate that my posts are so sporadic and unpredictable, but I really feel like that is what my life has become.  Having a full time job and trying to run my own online fitness coaching business is really taking a toll on me. Not only with the blog, but also my social life. Or lack there of.

But alas,  I have managed to get out of my house and do a few fun things that I thought I should at least check in to let you know that I am still alive.

Life has been so hectic that Matt and I forgot our own anniversary.  For the first 6 months of our marriage we had been celebrating every month and going to the same restaurant every month. Well we both forgot our 6 month and funny enough that was is actually a mile stone. I still can’t believe we’ve been married 6 months! Time really does fly.

I told Matt we could just wait until the next month, but he insisted we still go to our traditional anniversary spot. Well it’s almost our 7 month, but we managed to make it out before then. And it couldn’t have been on a more perfect night. Work has been incredibly stressful and Friday was the worst. To the point where I was almost in tears.  Thankfully I was able to go home early and upon getting home I took a long hot shower.

It’s amazing how a good shower and a fresh face can immediately make you feel better.

While I waited for Matt to get home, I did some personal development and read a little.  Again, it was just so nice to relax, read and remember to be positive and focus on me and bettering myself.

After dinner we stopped by the park and took a walk around the lake. The weather is finally starting to cool down here and the nights are beautiful.  We ended the night swinging on the swings and went home to veg and watch some TV.  It was a little late, but it was the perfect anniversary night.

 Saturday morning we decided to go out and grab some breakfast at a popular Brunch spot. Thankfully they have good Americano’s and the weather was nice because our wait was quoted at 10 minutes and it took more like 30.

The rest of the day was spent working with random errands in between. Typical Saturday for us really.

Sunday started off typical with us getting our traditional biscuits and gravy and I guess it was a trend of our breakfast’s taking longer than normal, because the girl ended up forgetting to make our coffees because she got too busy. O’well right?

Matt’s parents also came to town Sunday so we met them for lunch. Well, since Matt and I had a later breakfast we weren’t really hungry for lunch, but when they ordered dessert…

What do you do after a long stressful work week to unwind?

I don’t even know begin with all this. I have always been into fitness, health and nutrition and want to not only fuel my body with real nutrient dense foods, but give it appropriate fitness it needs to be the strongest I can. I definitely go through my phases. HITT, tabata style, running, strength training, you name it, I have gone through it.  There are so many benefits to each of them, but I think what I finally realized is there needs to be a balance between them on. Not focus on just one over the other.

Seems like common sense, but I recently realized my body is so much smarter than I give it credit for. My recent phase was running. It had been forever since I ran, I decided to go one day and thought wow I really missed running. Then I signed up to be a Beachbody coach and as a coach I felt it was only right that I do a program because that’s the main focus of the company. Be a product of the product. If I didn’t do the program how can I try and tell others that they work? If I didn’t drink Shakeology, how could I tell others the benefits? I couldn’t.

Come to find out. I loved the programs. I loved Shakeology.

And I was getting results.

But I still wanted to switch things up with my fitness, keep my body guessing. Doing the same thing over and over regardless of what it is, the body gets use to it. We need to switch it now and then. So I thought on my active rest days I would go for a run.

Then I realized something. I do not like running. And I don’t think my body does anymore either. I just could not get into it. And when the whole time all you can think about is when it’s going to be over, then you probably shouldn’t be doing it.

I’m not going to lie, there are so many mornings when I wake up and I do not want to do my 21 Day Fix Extreme work out, but I will tell you by the middle and end I am so glad I did and I get into it and push harder. That’s the difference.

So what does all this rambling mean? Well like I said for most this is probably common sense, but it was just kind of an ah-ha moment for me. I like to share these only because I think so many of us miss the obvious. And need others to go through it and share it for us to really get it.

SO maybe this is just another phase, I don’t know. I’m not saying I will never run again, but what I’m doing right now… well I’m loving it.

I am also so super excited because I am hosting my very first 30 day Facebook fitness challenge and honestly the thing I am most excited about it helping others reach their goals.
